Two Rieslings

These were both delicious examples of their respective regions.

2006 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Spätlese: There's a strange, sulfur-y stink going on here, but there's also plenty of musky peach and tropical nuances on the nose as well. In the mouth, this is simultaneously lush and succulent, with minerality peeking through in the mid-palate, and plenty of finishing snap. A wine that can be drunk both quickly and slowly.

2005 Karthäuserhof Kabinett: Not nearly as opulent as the above, this is nonetheless ravishing in its own way, with the trademark Ruwer herbaceousness on full display. A bit heavy for a Kabinett, but gorgeous nonetheless, and likely to get better.
